Dimitri Belikov is a Strigoi, originally a Dhampir of Russian decent. He was raised on a Dhampir commune in, Baia, in Siberia with his mother, sisters and grandmother. Dimitri was the former gaurdian of a Zeklos boy of whom he was friends with. The Zeklos died however, but not on Dimitri’s shift-Another guardian was guarding him at the time. But Dimitri didn’t stop after that, he went to St. Vlad’s Academy. Dimitri is not one to talk about himself and share the story of his life. For the most part Dimitri shares nothing with anybody, the only exceptions are those he as known for a long time, or the one he is in love with.
Dimitri is a Guardian, one of the youngest and the best. In going to St. Vlad’s Academy he became Vassilisa Dragomir’s first official guardian as well as Rosemarie Hathaway’s mentor and trainer. Dimitri has been described as being a very handsome man and very tall, around 6’7” with a lean, muscular body and dark eyes with long dark brown hair to frame his face. Just like the other Guardians, he has six Molnija marks tattooed on the back of his neck, these marks represent how many Strigoi he has killed in the past. Alot of Molnija marks came for many people from the Strigoi attack upon St. Vlad’s Academy, in which many Guardian’s fought, including Rosemarie Hathaway.
Dimitri has feelings for Rose, but they are complicated because of the “age difference” between them, but more importantly; they will both be Lissa’s Guardians when Rosemarie graduates. Trying to do what is right, of both of them, Dimirtri tries not to have these feelings towards Rose, but it isn’t an easy task and proves to be too difficult. Despite trying, Dimitri gives in and allows himself to be with Rose. However, soon after their lives seem to be perfect and things happen to be going well, Dimitri is bitten by a Strigoi when he and other Guardians go to rescue students taken from a previous Strigoi attack, and is therefore turned into one. In becoming a Strigoi he lost what he valued the most: his soul.
Becoming Strigoi was hard on Dimitri, of course it would be hard on anyone. But over time Dimitri met somebody whom could bring out the good, however small it was, part of himself and his feelings for Rosemarie began to fade away, only to bring up new feelings for someone else. Meeting Natalya Zeklos was the most amazing and unforgettable thing that could have ever happened. The happiness she brought to Dimitri was pure luck, but it was supposed to happen, they were meant to be together. Natalya brings out the best in Dimitri, although he can not change what he is and he has his moments, Natalya can see past the monster he truely is, and see more, see something better then a Strigoi, see the real him. (kwa pa rose???)
